Neva Belle Sackrider, 94 of Wolverine, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Born in Petoskey on June 22, 1924, Neva was the daughter of Albert and Blennie (Redford) Pemberton.
On December 20, 1941 Neva married Thomas Sackrider in Wolverine where they lived until moving to Saginaw in 1944. In 1974 they moved back to Wolverine. Tom preceded her in death in 1987. In 1989 Neva married Clyde F. Beardsley, he preceded her in death in 2007.
For several years Neva worked doing house cleaning in Saginaw and Indian River. During World War II she worked in the gun plant in Saginaw. Neva was an avid bingo player and she enjoyed visiting area casinos. She also enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. Her family will remember her sewing, knitting and crocheting for them. She made clothes for her daughters and hats, scarves, mittens and booties for her many grandchildren. She had a special bond with her constant companion, her cat, Baby. Neva had attended Wolverine Free Methodist Church and she was a member of Wolverine American Legion Post #122 Auxiliary.
Surviving are her daughters, Grace Colpean of Wolverine and Rose (Richard) Henderson of Saginaw; her son-in-law, James (Barb) Riethmeier of Wolverine; grandchildren, Debbie Parkman, Jody Parkman, Katie Sparks, Tina Colpean, Sharron (Al) Gingrich, Sandy (Dan) Riethmeier, Jim (Kathy) Riethmeier, John (Lisa) Riethmeier, Angela Salo, Chris (Scott) Shields, Stacy (Daryl) Reed, Lisa Henderson and Richard (Chrysta) Henderson; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, one great great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by daughters, Thelma Parkman and Sally Riethmeier; grandchildren, Brenda Sparks, Tommy Parkman and Terry Parkman; sisters, Flossie Wiggins and Beulah Brovage; brothers, Joe Pemberton and Alby Pemberton; and sons-in-law, James Colpean and Hershel Parkman.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM Monday, May 20, 2019 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Wolverine Free Methodist Church where visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Wolverine American Legion Post #122.
