Myrtle L. Stewart, 81 of Indian River, passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 at McLaren Northern Michigan. Born on October 26, 1934 in Ocqueoc, MI, she was the daughter of Edward and Lila (Jarvis) Leach.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Debra Berschbach) Dunbar; grandchildren, Travis (Kate) Noa, Hali (Curtis) Thompson and Matthew (Melissa) Noa; great-grandchildren, Ella, Trevor and Emmett; a brother, Jerry (Nancy) Leach; her sisters, Edna Paquin, June (Robert) Bollinger, Mildred Smith, Beverly Jacobson, and Barbara (Roger) Jacobs; her sisters in law, Mary Jo Leach and Therese Leach; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Renetta Noa; a grandson, Shayne Maxon-Dunbar; a sister, Violet Tippen; her brothers, Alfred Leach and Donald Leach.
In 1952, Myrtle graduated from Wolverine High school. Upon graduation, she obtained her associate degree in 1970. For over 25 years she worked for the State of Michigan in the Gaylord office with the Department of Social Services as an office manager. She was a member of the Indian River Eagles Club where she enjoyed many of the social activities including dancing and playing cards. Myrtle was an elegant, independent lady who enjoyed having fun, being active and was very loving. She will be greatly missed.
