Myrna L. Shankleton

Myrna L. Shankleton, 78 of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Munson Medical Center. Born in Dundee on March 16, 1938, Myrna was the daughter of Ellsworth and Rhea (Spaulding) Shankleton.

For those that knew Myrna, know that she loved her flowers.  She took great pride in working long hours in her flowerbeds, then taking a walk through them at the end of the day.  Myrna was also known for her incredible artistic talent.  Although she would never admit it, all of her work was gorgeous.  Myrna loved being a mom and grandma.  One of the greatest gifts she gave her children was being a stay at home mom, a rare thing by today’s standards.  She looked forward to snow days as much as we did.  Many will miss her, but she will live on in all of our flowerbeds!

Surviving are her daughters, Janie (Jim) Proctor of Gaylord, Lisa (Glenn) Blackford of Traverse City; her son, Don Sawall of Traverse City; her grandchildren, Stephanie Brewer and Joshua Paquette; her great-granddaughters, Sara Brewer and Emily Brewer; her brothers, Don (Mariam) Shankleton; Bob (Lillian) Shankleton; Allen “Chip”(Donna) Shankleton.

She was preceded in death by her parents Rhea and Ellsworth, and her siblings, Gary Shankleton, Judy Egas and Ellsworth “Sonny” Shankleton.

The family will visit with friends from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 850 North Center Avenue in Gaylord.
