Mitchell F. Dipzinski, 84 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Thursday, February 14, 2019.
Born on November 6, 1934 in Sparr, Mitch was the son of Mitchell F. and Helen A. (Zimbicki) Dipzinski. Mitch was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary’s High School.
After high school, Mitch attended the University of Detroit for a year on an athletic scholarship to play baseball and football. Then, after serving in the U.S. Army, Mitch returned to the family farm in Gaylord.
In the late 1950’s, Mitch lived for a time in Alaska, working for the U.S. Government. Later he returned to Michigan and went to work for in state government. Mitch was a special investigator for the Department of State, Department of Treasury and the Attorney General. With his work, he lived in several areas around Michigan before retiring in 1994 to Comins. In recent years, he returned to Gaylord.
Mitch was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He worked part time trapping nuisance animals.
On June 2, 2002 Mitch married Jane Krasinski in Comins. In addition to Jane, Mitch is survived by daughters, Kathryn “Katie” (Jason) Zack of Vanderbilt and Heidi (Douglas) Wyand of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Hailey, Breanna, Brandon and Hannah to whom he was a special Dzia Dzia; brothers, Robert (Frances) Dipzinski, Charles (Margie) Dipzinski and Philip (Beth) Dipzinski all of Gaylord and several nieces and nephews. Mitch was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerome Dipzinski.
Visitation will take place from 9:00-11:00 AM Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at St. Mary Cathedral where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM.
Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
