Miriam Taylor Hyde, 97, of Walloon Lake, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 5, 2018.
Born in Huntington, Indiana on June 3, 1920, Miriam was the daughter of Paul Moore Taylor and Magdalena (Beck) Taylor. She was a graduate of Huntington High School and Ohio Wesleyan University. On June 27, 1942 she married Donald C. Hyde of Cleveland, Ohio. They raised their four daughters in Shaker Heights, Ohio and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 1990. A life-long summer resident of Walloon Lake, she made it her permanent home in 2012.
Miriam is survived by her daughters, Martha Coscina (the late Michael) of Walloon Lake, Marguerite Smith (the late Harlie) of Ann Arbor, Cynthia Young (John) of Boyne City and Melissa Knudson (Jim) of Birmingham, Mi. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adam Smith (Theresa), Ethan Smith (Sarah Pohl), Jennifer Kolstad (Robb) and Lauren Wiegand(Nate) and her great grandchildren, Harley and Wylie Pohl Smith and Lindsay and Devin Smith. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Edwin and Paul Jr.
A family celebration of Miriam’s life will be held at Walloon Lake this summer. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to The Friends of the Crooked Tree District Library at P. O. Box 514, Walloon Lake or Hospice of Little Traverse Bay in Petoskey.
