After a full life of 96 years and with her family present, Miriam Cotanch peacefully passed away in Petoskey Michigan.
Born in Rockford, Ill, she grew up in Carthage Ill. She was a gifted student and graduated from high school at the age of 16. After 2 years at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA, she transferred to Carthage College and graduated in 1941.
Reading the Bible daily, Miriam was a devout Christian and significantly supported the Lutheran church. She was a world traveler with a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed entertaining her friends and family. Up until her death Miriam continued to play duplicate bridge and was a Ruby Life Master.
She is survived by her children Sue (Tom) Kennedy, Greenville, SC, Steve Cotanch, Raleigh, NC and John (Jeanne) Cotanch, Charlevoix, MI, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
In honor of her parents, Miriam endowed a scholarship at Carthage College which provides an annual stipend over $10,000. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the W. Carl and Esther C. Spielman Scholarship fund at http://www.carthage.edu/forms/giving/donation/.
