Mildred (Midge) Follette of Petoskey left this world surrounded by her family to join our Heavenly Father, on February 02, 2025. She was born on May 11, 1933, to Floyd Sr. and Myrtle Hausler of Boyne Falls. Midge was the third of six children.
In November of 1952, she married Alan Follette. They made their home in Boyne Falls where they raised six children. In 2008, they lost their son Michael.
Midge was primarily a stay-at-home mom but throughout her life worked various jobs; The Waffle Shop, Wimpy’s, live in nanny, Courter’s, Essex, maid work, most recent was American Spoon Foods and Andante.
Midge was a cheerleader at Boyne Falls Public School, where she graduated in 1951. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, family vacations and was particularly fond of Pigeon Forge, TN. She had a great love of music and wrote many poems, including her class song. Midge attended the Boyne Falls United Methodist Church. She loved being on the go with children.
Midge is survived by her children, Gayle Nicholson of Boyne Falls, Diana Farmer of East Jordan, Rosemary (Kelly) Reilly of Petoskey, Penny (Jim) Peterson of Wolverine, Patrick Follette of Boyne Falls, daughter-in-law Alena of Washington, 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandchild; siblings, Marjorie Goldsmith of Petoskey, Norman (Mary) Hausler of Boyne Falls, Kathy Hausler of Boyne Falls; sisters-in-law, Alma, Ronnie, Kathy (Tom), JoAnn, Judy; brother-in-law, Stanford (Ruth); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Alan Follette; son, Michael; son-in-law, John; great granddaughter, Amara; brother, Floyd Jr. (Oachie); sister-in-law, Irene; sister, Phylis; and brother-in-law, Merle Case; brother-in-law, Dan Goldsmith; father and mother-in-law, Murray and Verona Follette; sisters-in-law, Opal, Muriel, Judy, Debbie; brothers-in-law, Albert, Jerry, Stanley, Murray and Carlton.
It was important to Midge that her children, family and friends realize how much they were her life, and how much happiness and joy they brought. To quote Midge, “I had it all”.
Memorial service will be held at Boyne Falls United Methodist Church on Saturday February 15, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with visitation at 10:00 AM with a luncheon following the service. A celebration of life and burial to be held in the spring.
