Mary Helen Mullaney Smith, 84

Loving Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grand-Mother and Friend.

Mary Helen Smith, 84, of Sarasota, Fl and Bay Harbor, Mi, passed away October 2, 2017 in Petoskey, Mi.

Mary was born in Detroit, Mi on April 1, 1933. She graduated from the University of Detroit and was a member of the Phi Gamma Beta Sorority. She was an active member of the Sweet Adeline’s organization for 16 years, competing in numerous regional and international competitions. Sweet Adeline’s is a highly respected worldwide organization of woman committed to advancing the musical art form of harmony through education, competition and performance. She always had a song in her heart.

She enjoyed art, painting, music, singing, gardening, playing mahjong with friends, and spending time with her family. She was an active and practicing Catholic who was extremely strong in her faith.

Mary is preceded in death her parents, Molly and Thomas Mullaney, her brother Tom and sisters Nora and Jane.

Mary was survived by her loving husband, Richard Smith, married 59 years. She was the proud and devoted Mother of Maryann (Smith) Kolb, James Smith, and Tracy (Smith) Roberts and loving grand-mother to Michael Mullaney Roberts.

Funeral service will be at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (Siesta Key, FL) at 10:00am on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Reception at Sarasota Yacht Club to follow.
