Mark W. Scott Sr, 72 of Wolverine, passed away at home on December 25, 2017.
A lifelong area resident, Mark was born in Cheboygan on April 6, 1945, the son of Donald and Marjorie (McLaughlin) Scott.
Mark was a lumberjack most of his life working for a number of years with Moeke Lumber in Mancelona.
He had a passion for finding and purchasing skidders and other large equipment which he would fix for resale. Mark and his wife, Sara, enjoyed their trips to the Upper Peninsula in search of equipment for sale. In recent years he learned how to search the internet for opportunities too.
He will be remembered as a hard working “manly man” who was also a kind, gentle and caring man.
Mark is survived by his wife, Sara. They were married in Gaylord on November 21, 1997.
Also surviving are his children, Candise Scott of Wolverine and Mark W. (Deana) Scott Jr. of Wolverine; grandchildren, Daniel, Chase (Alyona), Nicole and Jared; a great grandson, Alexander; sisters, Joyce Hudson of Mackinaw City and Donna (Mike) Azure of Alanson; a brother, Ronald (Nita) Scott of Petoskey and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Scott and a son, Robert G. Scott.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will visit with friends beginning at 1:00 PM. A luncheon and gathering will follow at the Wolverine Elementary School. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the family.
