Marilyn Helen Kuechenmeister, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 19, 2017. To honor her wishes no public funeral will be held. Cremation has taken place and final interment will be at Albert Twp. Cemetery, Lewiston, Michigan.
She was born October 28, 1931 in Gaylord, Michigan to Mary Helen King and Albert Thomas Double. She was raised in Vienna Twp., Montmorency County, along with her sister, Dalthea Gale Double.
Marilyn attended Johannesburg and Atlanta Schools then went on to County Normal and graduated from Wayne State University.
On November 4, 1949 she married Lynn Travis Schlicher and they had three daughters, Lynelle Lea, Marleen Lesley, and Laurie Lynn.
Marilyn was an elementary teacher and reading consultant for many years in Lamphere Public Schools, Oakland County, Michigan. After "retiring" to North Carolina with her second husband Fred Kuechenmeister, she worked as a teacher with the Federal Job Corps - U. S. Forestry Service at the Schenck Civilian Conservation Center in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina.
Preceding her in death were her parents Albert Double and Mary Double Kasky, step-father Michael Kasky, first husband Lynn Schlicher, second husband Fred Kuechenmeister, sister Dalthea Double Black and son-in-law Marty Smialek.
Surviving to cherish her memory are daughters Lynelle (Dean) Mitchell, Marleen (Gabriel) Bandy, and Laurie Smialek. Grandchildren, Cheryl Mitchell-McCarthy (Tim), Steven Mitchell (Patty), David Bandy (Jennifer), Amy Bench, Jeffrey Ozella, James Ozella. Eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn touched the lives of many people with her kindness and generosity and will be forever in their hearts.
