Marian K. Glassley, 86 of Gaylord, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Tendercare Gaylord.
Born in Highland Park, MI on October 27, 1930, Marian was the daughter of Keith and Beulah (Baldwin) Glassley.
Marian lived in San Francisco for many years where she was a flight attendant for United Airlines. She worked for United for over 40 years. At the time she retired, she was the longest serving United flight attendant in the company’s history, a record that still stands today. A highlight of her career was volunteering her time, along with other United flight attendants and pilots, to fly military service members home from the Vietnam War. After she retired, Marian moved to Gaylord to live near her sisters.
An animal lover, she had many of her own pets over the years. As a strong supporter of animal rights and welfare, she generously supported a number of animal organizations. She also attended the First United Methodist Church in Gaylord.
Marian is survived by her sister, Janet Deneen of Duluth, MN; her nieces and nephews, Cindy FitzGerald of Gaylord, Janis (Rob) Thompson of Oberlin, OH, Mike (Anne) Grocock of Birmingham, Linda (Gary Shute) Deneen of Duluth, MN a niece-in-law, JoAnn Deneen of Corvallis, OR; and several great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Ernie Grocock; a niece, Cathy Deneen and a nephew, Greg Deneen.
At this time her family will remember her privately. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Friends for Life.
