Mrs. Margaret Laurence 83, of Gaylord, went to heaven on Friday July 24, 2015 with her loving family by her side.
Margaret was born November 18, 1931 in Dearborn, Michigan. She graduated in 1949 from Wayne High School. She loved all kind of sports and extracurricular activities in school, and often talked of her classmates. She was married for 56 years to her husband Frank J. Laurence who preceded her in death May 26, 2010. Together, they lived on Sheldon Street in Gaylord since 1974.
The most important thing for Margaret was her family. Margaret is survived by her six children, Mary Graham, Theresa Zywicki, Cathy (Bill) Smith, Frank Jr. (Jill), Steven (Rachelle), and Patricia; 15 grandchildren, Catie, Carly, Christine and Ryan Graham, Robert Jr. and Alexis Zywicki, Spencer Smith, Sarah Moratti, Stephanie Wisniewski, Gracie, Steven Jr., Miyoshi, Lucas, Sidney and Mikala Laurence; and four great- grandchildren, Jackson, Koshi, Louie and Kai; her brothers, Ed “Sonny” and Michael Spisak; and her sister, Virginia (George) Hudson of Sarasota, Florida. Oldest brother Dick, and parents Ed and Irene preceded her in death.
Margaret loved watching song birds and tending to her flowers. She had a strong affinity for animals and especially enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. She spent many hours working in her flower garden, preparing the soil, and nurturing many different types of perennial flowers. Peonies were her favorite. You could say Margaret truly had a green thumb.
Cooking was another passion for Margaret and it came second nature to her. She loved to prepare meals for her family – and it gave her great joy to have them all together sharing a meal at the table. She could be seen daily reading through cooking magazines and trying new recipes.
Margaret had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She was very involved in the Otsego Choral Society.
Margaret will be missed by her family, but never forgotten.
Her family will visit with friends from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where a memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM. Flowers are welcome, but if so inclined, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
