Marcia R. Hodge, 76 of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.
Born in Detroit, MI on January 14, 1943, Marcia was the daughter of Milton and Violet (Hultquist) Benson. She grew up in Detroit and was a 1961 graduate of Mumford High School.
Marcia lived in Southfield for several years before moving to Lewiston in 1974 with her family. In 1996 she moved to Johannesburg and then to Gaylord in 2014.
Throughout her life, Marcia was a dedicated caregiver. She devoted herself to the care of her daughter, Rebecca and to others in her home, Benson House in Lewiston and Johannesburg, with her good friend and business partner, Barb Austin. Later Marcia served as a public guardian for many people in Montmorency and Otsego Counties.
Marcia was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Gaylord where she was head of the Altar Guild. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting. She was a past recipient of the Montmorency 4-H “Homemaker of the Year” award.
Surviving are her children, Randy (Hollie) Hodge of Waterford, Roy (Kris) Hodge of Sterling Heights and Rebecca Hodge of Gaylord; grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter, Bella, Eric and Doug (Jennifer); a great granddaughter, Peyton; two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Karen Wilcox.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the church.
