Lyle Dean Bennett, 72 of Cheboygan, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at McLaren Hospice House in Cheboygan.
Born in Lansing on October 28, 1945, Lyle was the son of Lewis W. and Leona G. (Kast) Bennett. A longtime Lansing resident, Lyle worked as a painter at the General Motors Assembly Plant for 43 years, retiring in 2004. In 2006 he moved to Cheboygan.
Lyle will be remembered by his family and friends as a very kind and compassionate man. He was dedicated to his faith and his church, Life Worship Center. An avid fisherman, he was also a strong Michigan State University supporter. He loved music of all kinds and enjoyed attending concerts with his daughter. In recent years Lyle found great joy in trips out on his Kubota utility vehicle with his wife, Victoria, in search of rocks for his collection.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Victoria, whom he married on April 17, 2010 in Cheboygan; step-children, Dustin (Teresea) Looman of Mt. Pleasant and Jason Looman of Arizona; a step-grandson, Caleb; a brother, Leo; a sister, Loyce; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Cooper and Lady.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sheila Britting in 2004; brothers, Lewis Jr. and Lynn; and sisters, Lorraine and Leah.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Life Worship Center, 901 West VFW Road in Cheboygan where the family will visit with friends beginning at 11:00 AM. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the church.
