Lucy E. Watkins

Lucy E. Watkins, 94 of Waters, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at McReynolds Hall.

Born in Waters on December 7, 1922, Lucy was the daughter of John and Emma (Busch) Cassidy.  On August 22, 1938 she married William Paul Watkins.  They were married for 45 years, when he preceded her in death in 1983.

A lifelong area resident, Lucy worked for 35 years at Standard Products, retiring in 1985.  She was a longtime member of Otsego Lake Baptist Church.  Lucy was also a member of the UAW and she enjoyed attending retiree meetings.  She enjoyed traveling and she looked forward to her weekly Saturday lunches at 2:00 PM with family members and friends.  Lucy found great joy in her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Surviving are her children, Russell Watkins of Waters, Carl (Bonnie) Watkins of Frederic; Jean Costello of Vanderbilt, Janet (John) Rybiski of Wayland and Cynthia (Richard) Hoover of Gaylord; 22 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren and 13 great, great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Mertes; brothers, John and Phil; and sisters, Mary and Vrena.

Her family will visit with friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday, June 23, 2017 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 24, 2017.  Visitation will begin on Saturday at 10:00 AM.  Interment will be at Otsego Lake Township Cemetery.
