LouAnne Burd

LouAnne Burd, 82 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Born on June 16, 1936 in Boyne City, LouAnne was the daughter of Rayne G. and Rosella E. (Dunlop) Lee, growing up and attending school in Gaylord.  LouAnne left high school before graduating.  It was her goal to return to high school and graduate.  She achieved her goal several years later, graduating in 1972 in the same class with her daughter, Anida.

On November 15, 1954, LouAnne married Larry E. Burd at the United Methodist Church in Gaylord.  They lived in Gaylord before later moving to the Kalamazoo area.  LouAnne worked there for several years as an LPN, providing in home care.  After they both retired, LouAnne and Larry traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, living full time in their motor home for several years.  In 2012 they returned to Gaylord to be near their family.  LouAnne was an avid bingo player.  She also enjoyed reading, going to garage sales, spending time with her family and dining out.

LouAnne was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, in 2014.  Surviving are her children, Anida Inman of East Jordan, Kelly (Russ) Suiter of Naples, FL, Larry (Jackie) Burd Jr. of Kalamazoo and Lee Anne Hughes of Kannapolis, NC; 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Richard, Robert and Bruce Lee.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will gather and visit with friends beginning at 2:00 PM.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
