Lloyd L. Eisenhart, 82 of Vanderbilt, passed away at home on Thursday, February 11, 2016. Born in St. Joseph, MI on August 13, 1933, Lloyd was the son of Arthur and Flora (Foster) Eisenhart.
Lloyd grew up in St. Joseph where he graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1951. From 1956-1958 he served in the U.S. Navy. It was during a visit to Gaylord that Lloyd met Joan D. Gault. They were married in St. Joseph on October 22. 1960.
Lloyd and his family lived in St. Joseph where he worked as a mechanical engineer at New Products and later at Benton Harbor Malleable until his retirement in 1984.
After retiring, Lloyd and Joan moved to Utah where he owned a swimming pool franchise and later to Florida where he worked for Marriott Hotels. In 2000 Lloyd and Joan moved to their Vanderbilt home, which Lloyd built himself. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and woodcarver. Lloyd was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vanderbilt.
Lloyd is survived by Joan, his wife of 55 years; his children, Mitzi Layman of Stevensville, Marketta Hardy of Gaylord, Montreia (Kelly) Barney of Spanish Fork, UT and Lloyd “Chip” Eisenhart of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Casey Layman, JR (Amber) Layman and Madison Eisenhart; and great grandchildren, Alex, Zoey, Harper and Gus Layman. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Louis, Leslie and Lowell Eisenhart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vanderbilt where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Little Traverse Bay.
