Lena E. Austin, 92 of Petoskey, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Villa at the Bay. Born in Petoskey on November 1, 1925, she was the daughter of Earl and Josephine (Holecheck) Powers.
Lena grew up on a farm on Powers Road in Alanson. She was last known to be the longest member of the VFW Auxillary #2051. She enjoyed traveling, loved to dance to the polka and waltz, and loved country music.
Lena is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jerry) Croff of Canton, GA; granddaughters, Kelli (Todd) Klein and Laurie (Chris) Carroll; great-grandchildren, Natalie & Paige Klein, James & Benjamin Marsolo; a very special niece, Patti (Mike) Goodreau; nieces, Peggy (Phil) Millard and Vicki (Mark) Hill; nephews, Mike Hastings and Jim Powers; and her lifelong friend, Marceil (Kuebler) Lasley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle in 1983; son, Earl “Butch” Tews; brother, Richard E. Powers; sisters, Angela Burke, Avalon Clevenger and nephew, Richard “Rick” Powers.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to the entire staff at Villa at the Bay in Petoskey for their exceptional care and love given to Lena since 2007.
