Lavonne Catherine Bilan

Lavonne Catherine Bilan, 81, of Gaylord and formerly of Allen Park, died peacefully at home Tuesday, November 20, 2012 surrounded by her family. Born on April 10, 1931 in Wyandotte, MI, Lavonne was the daughter of Frank and Victoria (Pyszczynski) Laritz. On June 20, 1953 Lavonne married Paul Bilan. They were married over 52 years when he preceded her in death in 2006. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Lavonne was a dedicated registered nurse, caring for her patients over many years in hospital, nursing home and medical office settings. Whether it was a patient, family member, friend or neighbor, Lavonne always made caring for others her priority. She was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Allen Park for more than 50 years. She lived her faith and it was a very important part of her life. She was a friend of the Immaculate Heart of Mary sisters. She loved time spent with her family, adored her grandchildren, and enjoyed a good game of cards. For much of her life she also enjoyed spending time boating at their cottage on White Lake. She is survived by her four daughters; Victoria (Chuck) Cornaire of Gaylord, Paula (Dennis) Chall or Northville, Aurora (Philip) Murray of Traverse City and Sandy (Jim) Ellsworth of Waterford; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a brother Lanny (Mary Ann) Laritz of Ohio. Lavonne was also preceded in death by her sister, Loraine Baszczuk. A memorial mass for Lavonne will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 15, 2012 St. Francis Cabrini Church, 15305 Wick Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sister Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 610 Elm Ave., Monroe, Michigan, 48162. Arrangements are by Gaylord Funeral & Cremation Service.
