Kristy Maria Francis, 41 of Gaylord, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022, in Gaylord. 

Born on November 30, 1980, in Trenton, Michigan, Kristy is the daughter of Michael J. and Peggy J. (Boright) Thorley.

As a Gaylord resident for many years, Kristy had worked the last four years as an agent at local insurance office, The Drzewiecki Agency.  Previously, she worked at Professional Answering Service in Gaylord.

Kristy will be remembered for her big heart and her love of family. She especially loved her children; she loved to talk about their lives and the people they have become.  She was also proud of herself for her accomplishments and the improvements she had made in her own life, finishing her GED, becoming a licensed insurance agent, and especially celebrating seven years of sobriety.

Kristy enjoyed reading, watercolor painting, listening to music, gardening, and watching crime dramas and crime documentaries on television.  She also loved to crochet and enjoyed donating her work to Toys for Tots and volunteering her time for other children’s organizations.

Kristy is survived by her husband, Jason R. Francis of Wyandotte; her children, Jarod Ray Moore of Traverse City, E-3 Sheyenne Mykala Moore, USN of Okinawa, Japan and Naython Blaine Wheelis of Gaylord; her parents, Mike Thorley of Lewiston and Peggy Thorley of Brownstown; her siblings, Biz (Nick Souder) Thorley of New Boston, MI, Ashley (David) Thomas of Johannesburg, Olivia (Angie Torres-Sanchez) of Lewiston, Billy Thorley of Lewiston, Joey (Abby) Gonzalez of Wyandotte, Nicky Gonzalez of Rockwood and Zack (Adrianna) Bruce of Rogers City; her “second mom”, Becky Farmer; her “second sister”, Jennifer Jones of Gaylord; and nieces and nephews, Elijah, Cameron, Cleyo, Colt, Brooklynn, Brayden, Oliver, Jacqueline, Henry, Angel, Jessica, Kaylee, Jenna and Jordan.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Vienna Township Hall, 2600 M-32, Atlanta MI where the family will visit with friends beginning at 12:00 noon.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Gaylord Toys for Tots.
