Kristeen M. Frost

Kristeen M. Frost, 77 of Gaylord, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Woodland Acres in Gaylord.

Born in Cheboygan, Michigan on August 14, 1946, she was the daughter of Russell and Esther (Hogland) Abernathy.

Kristeen lived most of her adult life with her husband, Jack K. Frost, in Berkley, Michigan, where they raised their family.  Both Kristeen and Jack were well known and very actively involved in their community throughout their life there. Kristeen and Jack, along with their friends started the Berkley Steelers Youth Football Team in Berkley when their boys were young and the team still exists today. She moved to Elmira with her son and daughter-in-law, Korey and Janel, in 2021.

Kristeen worked as a representative for Shaklee Products, a maker of vitamin and other nutritional products.  As one who loved children, she also worked for many families as a nanny.  Kids loved her, and she loved them.  Called “Nanny” by the kids, they were relationships that lasted her lifetime.

Her own children have often been told by others that their mom “is the nicest, sweetest person” they know.  She was kind, gracious, and patient with others, a truly gentle soul, never uttering a bad word about anyone.  She will be truly missed by those who loved her.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, working crossword puzzles, and Bible Study groups. 

Kristeen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; and her parents, Russell and Esther Abernathy.  She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John (Trisha) Frost of Grass Lake, and Korey (Janel) Frost of Elmira; grandchildren, Allyson, Logan, Mason, Peyton, Sawyer, and Walker Frost, and Taylor Burns; sisters, Sandy (Russ) Rasmussen of Traverse City, and Jeni Abernathy of Cheboygan; brothers, Charles (Debbie) Abernathy, Randy (Carol) Abernathy, Scott Abernathy, and Shane Abernathy all of Cheboygan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Life Worship Center, 901 West VFW Road, in Cheboygan, where visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM.  Burial next to her husband, Jack, will take place on Monday, September 11, 2023 at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.
