Kenneth Lee Newland was born 7/12/1939 in Carlshend MI, and passed away at 11:17AM on January 19, 2021 in Petoskey MI from COVID-19.
Ken had a sweet and gentle spirit, and loved feeding the birds and deer around their home in Wolverine. He retired as a line assembler for General Motors Powertrain, assembling Cadillac transmissions. In retirement he worked as a realtor, and a lifeguard. Musically talented, he would frequently play the guitar and sing at family gatherings, and was part of the Friendship Center Uke Group of Petoskey with his trusty ukulele, which he never traveled without. Those who knew Ken agree he exemplified the fruits of the spirit in his daily life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, and self-control.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Newland; sister, Jeannie Fisher; son, Scott Newland and grandchildren, Josh Pilley, Aiden Ava and Lexi Newland. A zoom memorial service was held, and a funeral service will be held in the spring, or as soon as covid restrictions permit.
