Kenneth H. Bellant

Kenneth H. Bellant, 93 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Saturday, February 10, 2018.

Born in Flint, MI on November 9, 1924, Ken was the son of Daniel R. and Pansy (Toms) Bellant.  As a young man, Ken left his home and family to join the U.S. Navy, serving honorably during World War II.

Upon completing his military service, Ken returned home and went to work at General Motors for a number of years before returning to Sanford House as an interior designer, where he had previously worked as a teenager. He spent many years at Sanford House and later went to work in sales at Michigan Saw & Tool, from where he retired.

On June 28, 1947 Ken married the love of his life, Pearline Maye Carter in Flint.  They lived for many years near Flushing where they raised their family.  Having purchased what would become their retirement home a few years earlier, they moved to Gaylord in 1986.

Throughout his life, Ken was dedicated to his church, Mt. Morris Free Methodist Church and later after moving to Gaylord, the Gaylord Church of the Nazarene.  Over the years he served in many capacities including usher and church treasurer.

Ken loved the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, he enjoyed fishing and family camping trips were always part of his life.  Throughout his life, he enjoyed gardening and working in his yard.  Also a motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed riding until he was 80 years old.

Ken was proud of his graduation from Flushing High School in 1980 at the age of 55.  His whole family was proud to watch him receive his diploma right along with all the other graduates.

Ken is survived by Pearline, his wife of 70 years; his children, Nancy (Mike) Romanack of Linden and Daniel K. Bellant of Gaylord; grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Bellant of Houston, TX, Jason (Janel) Romanack of Linden, Julie (Steve) Morris of Flushing and Daniel M. Romanack of Flint; seven great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ola Bellant and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edith Edenburn, Bette Murphy and Maryalice Mossman; and brothers, Charles A. Bellant, who died in infancy and Charles N. Bellant.

Ken’s family will visit with friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service.  Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 12:00 noon Friday, February 16, 2018 where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM.  Interment will be at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris, MI at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 24, 2018.
