Kathleen Lucas

Kathleen Lucas, 86 of Gaylord, passed away at her son’s home in Gaylord on Friday, April 15, 2016.  Born in Detroit on February 27, 1930, she was the daughter of Arthur J. and Jessie M. (Hunt) Steer.

On September 15, 1950, Kathleen married George E. Lucas in Detroit.  They moved to Eastport in 1951.  Kathleen worked for 20 years at Texas Instruments in Central Lake.  In the early 1990’s Kathleen and George moved to Gaylord.  They spent winters in Florida for several years.

Kathleen loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and playing board games.  Kathleen always looked forward to visits to Bob Evans Restaurant.

George preceded Kathleen in death on May 22, 2014.  Surviving are her sons, Dean (Frances) Lucas and Dale (Emma Jean) Lucas all of Gaylord; grandchildren, Harmony (Grant) Hughes and Kathleen Lucas all of Gaylord, Jon (Cindy) Lucas of Mancelona and Samantha (Tim) Smith of Red Lion, PA; several great grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Crowdus of Troy, MI and Florence Dixson of Riverside, CA; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by sisters, Ethel Coy, Dorothy Bateman and Jessie Baird; brothers, Art and Tom Steer; and a grandson, James E. Lucas.

A family graveside service for Kathleen and George will be held in the near future.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan.
