Joyceann Marie Burgdorf, 81 of Gaylord, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, February 13, 2023.
Born in Flint, Michigan on August 31, 1941, she was the daughter of Louis M. and Gladys K. (Conroy) Collins. She moved to Gaylord with her family in the 1952. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in Gaylord, Joyce went on to attend business college.
On May 26, 1962, Joyce was married to Joseph Burgdorf at St. Mary Catholic Church in Gaylord. Having previously worked as a waitress and in a factory, Joyce joined her husband, Joe as the longtime business manager at his business, Spartan Sewer & Septic in Gaylord.
Joyce was a parishioner at St. Mary Cathedral. She enjoyed motorcycling with Joe, traveling, camping, and reading. Together they enjoyed spending winter months in Arizona and Florida for several years.
Joyce is survived by Joe, her husband of almost 61 years; her son, Robert (Vicki) Burgdorf of Gaylord; a granddaughter, Rebekah (Jeff) Pecor of Grayling; step grandchildren, Rick Wagner, Cassandra (Jake) LaBean, Travis Wagner and Melissa Aylsworth; 6 great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Collins of Gaylord; her brother, Vern (Christine) Collins of Gaylord; her niece, Michelle (Saun) Keister; nephews, Jeff (Heather) Collins, Scott Collins and Matthew (Michelle) Collins; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and, recently, by her brother, The Reverend Chester Collins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2023 at St. Mary Cathedral where visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Gaylord Right to Life.
