Joseph Thomas McCormick

Tom McCormick, age 83, of Gaylord and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home early Friday morning, June 5, 2015.

Tom was born September 1, 1931 to Arthur and Mary (Beucher) McCormick in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Good Shepherd Grade School, graduated from Central Catholic High School (Class of 1949) and the University Of Toledo College Of Pharmacy (Class of 1955). Tom was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked for Schering Corporation for 11 years. Tom then went on to own Oak and Arlington Pharmacies in Toledo, Ohio where he was a strong preceptor for the University Of Toledo College Of Pharmacy. Throughout his career Tom mentored many wonderful future pharmacists, before retiring to the solace of Gaylord Michigan in 1993.

Tom is survived by his long time companion Janice Martin; the mother of his children, Marilyn (Flynn) Miller; children, Kelly (Chris) Humberson, Joseph (Molly) McCormick, Arthur McCormick, John (Beth) McCormick; grandchildren, Maggie (Justin) Gerhardinger, Aly, Maureen, Sean, Mary Louise McCormick; brothers, William (Pat) McCormick, Michael McCormick; sisters, Helen (Raymond) Bihn, Peggy Pilaczynski; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur (Skip) McCormick; and sisters, Mary (John) Jasinski and Patricia McCormick-Hanthorn. Tom loved our God, the Catholic Church, his family, and his pharmacy profession where he was generous to many and kind to all.

Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm with rosary services at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 10:15 am with prayers in the funeral home and proceed to Good Shepard Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the University Of Toledo College Of Pharmacy Robert J. Schlembach Alumni Scholarship.
