John J. Cain Sr.

John J. Cain Sir, 76 of Lewiston passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

Born in Inkster on July 11, 1941, John was the son of James R. and Naomi M. (Bechtol) Cain.

After serving honorably in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961, John returned home and on May 24, 1965 he married Helen M. Woodby in Detroit.

John worked for more than 20 years in construction as a drywaller.  Later he worked as a truck driver for more than 10 years for a number of companies before retiring and moving from Taylor to Lewiston, MI.

He had been a longtime member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and Road Rangers.  He enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool and he was an avid hunter, fisherman and motorcyclist.

John is survived by his wife, Helen of Taylor; his children, Kimberly (Dwayne) Causey of Scottville, KY, John (Wendy) Cain Jr. of Taylor and William (Teresa) Cain of Wayne; 27 grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Alvin (Myra) Cain of Westland and Edward (Judy) Cain of Ortonville; a sister, Connie (Pete) Cain of Ypsilanti and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jerry Allen Cain in 1972; a daughter, Searaha Ladonna Cain in 2014; a sister, Sarah Cain and brothers, Robert and Jerry Cain.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
