John Glenn Yinger, 61 of Mancelona, passed away at home on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Born in Toledo, Ohio on August 25, 1962, he was the son of David and Irene (Knapp) Yinger. John grew up in Erie, Michigan and attended Ida Schools, graduating in 1982.
On August 14, 2015, John was married to Samantha (Waldrop) Yinger, in Monroe.
They lived in Temperance before moving to their Mancelona, Lakes of the North home in 2017.
He worked for many years as a machine operator at General Motors Toledo Transmission Operations, retiring in 2018.
John was an avid gun collector and an excellent marksman. He also enjoyed camping, riding snowmobiles and ATVs, and fireworks. He was a member of Sons of American Legion Post #192 in Temperance.
He is survived by his wife, Samantha; a son, John R. Yinger of Toledo; stepchildren, Alyssa Bomia of Kalamazoo, Chad Bomia of Franklin, IN, and Brandon Bomia of Toledo, OH; grandchildren, Lee Bomia of Toledo, OH, Sophia and Landon Dimmick, and Amelia Morey all of Kalamazoo, MI; a brother, David (Lynda) Yinger of Riga, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
At the present time, his family will remember him privately, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date that is yet to be determined.
