John L. Massey

John Leon Massey, 78 of Boyne Falls, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024, at McLaren Northern Michigan. Born on March 26, 1946, in Boyne Falls, the son of Marion and Beulah (Baker) Massey. 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. For many years, he operated the family Moyer Trout Pond in Boyne Falls. He was a talented wood worker. Throughout the years, he worked at Boyne Falls Log Homes, Town and Country Log Homes, Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands. He loved talking to people and telling stories. He was very proud of each of his grandchildren. They were the apple of his eye.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelli (Todd) Gokee; grandsons, Jeffrey (Courtney) Howard and Cayden Howard; granddaughter, Kassidy Howard (Briar Bishop); brothers, Alan "zeke" (Giselle) Massey, Leon (Kathy) Massey; sister-in-law, Ellen Massey; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Beulah Massey; sisters, Margaret "Eloise" (Bob) McGeorge, Lila (Jay) Kelso and Peggy; brothers, Bill Massey and George Massey. 

A memorial service will take place 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Boyne Falls United Methodist Church where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will follow.
