John Elwood Fults

John Elwood Fults, 60, known to many as Johnny, passed away peacefully at McLaren Northern Michigan with family by his side on March 8, 2024. John was born November 29, 1963, in Petoskey, MI, the son of Jack LaVern Fults and Bernita Grace (Peters). 

In 1981, John met the love of his life Laura Gere, they married on August 20, 1983. They were married for 40 years and together had two children; Jessica and Joshua. John had a passion for playing guitar and singing. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter, and a jack of all trades. He had the ability to not take life too seriously, he was always the life of the party. He cherished his family and friends, there was not a thing he wouldn't do for those he loved, from late night calls, rescues, or a helping hand. He lived his life to the fullest of his ability. He was the “hold my beer”, hang on and watch this fun-loving guy.

John is survived by his wife Laura; two children, Jessica Fults (Ben Neal) and Joshua Fults (Elyssa Flinn); brother, Daniel (Julie) Fults of Gaylord; sister, Sharmin Rogers of Clio; brother-in-law, Brian Gere of Gaylord; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Tammy Brunk of Gaylord; grandchildren, Logan, Jayla, Journey, Winnie, Wyatt and Aubyn; nieces and nephews, Jack III, Trent, Rhyon, Irelynn, Kyle, Amber, Zack and Billie.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elwood Jasper Fults, Louise Ellen Fults (Palmer), Clifford Peters, Thelma Peters (Sayers); parents, Jack and Bernita Fults; brother, Jack Fults Junior; and brother-in-law, Dennis Rogers.
