John G. Fetters, 85 of Lewiston, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Ausable Valley Community Home in Fairview. Born on May 3, 1929 in Lansing, he was the son of Orbie and Frances (Harnett) Fetters.
John lived in Lansing for most of his life. He graduated from Lansing Eastern High School and obtained his Associates in Law Enforcement from Lansing Community College.
He proudly worked for the Lansing Police Department for 29 years in numerous positions beginning as a beat cop, motorcycle division and retired as a Detective Sergeant assigned to the homicide division. After retiring he then worked 17 years as the Head Investigator with the Friend of the Court for Ingham County. Outside of work, he enjoyed his family, hunting, trout fishing, playing cards, bowling tournaments, golfing and the Detroit Tigers.
John married the love of his life, Lorraine Potter. They enjoyed 66 anniversaries together. Also surviving is his daughter, Rhonda Fetters of Lovells. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Mary L. Amerman, who raised him after the death of his mother Frances in 1933; and sisters, Maxine, Thelma, Beatrice and Alma.
