Joann E. Pierce

Joann E. Pierce, 83 of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital. She was born on May 20, 1938 in Pontiac, MI, the daughter of Hubert and Virginia LaMothe.

Joann loved spending time with her family, they were number one in her life. She proudly raised four children where she was able to stay home with them in their younger years. She liked to stay busy and her hands were always busy. Some of her greatest years were spent in Northern Ontario, Canada at Camp Missanabie where she and her husband, Mel owned and operated a fishing and hunting camp. She enjoyed cooking for all the guests that stayed in the cabins and was an excellent hostess. In her later years she enjoyed making ceramics, knitting baby blankets, making quilts for her family’s weddings and cooking. She found joy in taking care of others.

She is survived by her children, Karie (Mike) Heath of Gaylord, Chris (Holly) McLarty of Lake Orion and Lisa McLarty of Gaylord; special grandchildren, Travis, Devonie, Matt and Andrew (Amanda) McLarty; a brother, Gerald LaMothe and a sister, Sharon LaMothe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Pierce; her son, Stacey McLarty; her brothers, Ronald and Darcy LaMothe.
