Jimmy Neel Moore

Jimmy Neel Moore, 86 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Friday, September 29, 2023.

Born on May 26, 1937, in Detroit, he was the son of Neely and Roberta (Wamble) Moore. 

After graduating from high school, Jimmy received his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and his master’s degree in business management from Wayne State University. 

On January 21, 1961, Jimmy married Lisa C. Guensche in Kalamazoo.  They lived for many years in Royal Oak, MI, where they raised their two sons, and later moved to Gaylord to spend their retirement. 

He was a member of the Western Michigan University Alumni Association and Delta Chi Fraternity.  Jimmy was an avid skier and he enjoyed playing golf.  He was also a lifelong Detroit Lions fan. 

Jimmy is survived by Lisa, his wife of 62 years; his sons, Jeffrey Moore, and James (Raven) Moore; grandchildren, Alyson Moore, Joshua (Madeline) Moore, Madison (Adam) Suokas, and Aurora Moore; great grandchildren, Emma, and Olivia Suokas; and his sister, Norma Aubin. 

In keeping with his wishes, Jimmy’s family will remember him privately.
