Jimmie L. Burrow, 74 of Mackinaw City, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Corning, Arkansas on May 28, 1943, Jimmie was the son of George Lee and Etna Leona (Parker) Burrow. He grew up in Arkansas and moved to Detroit when he was 17 years old.
In his early years in the Detroit area Jimmie worked at Ford and Chrysler, in basement waterproofing and real estate, and at one time he also owned a gas station. A master plumber, he later started his own business, Aaffordable Plumbing.
Jimmie had met “the love of his life”, Sheryl Lamberson, and they were married in Auburn Heights on May 17, 1985.
In 1987 they moved to Florida for a short time and then back to Epoufette, MI where they purchased the Skyline Motel and Cut River Store & Deli. There Jim enjoyed perfecting his recipe for smoked fish which was a customer favorite. They also owned and operated the Good N Plenty Restaurant in Brevort and later the Skyline Restaurant at the motel in Epoufette.
In 1992 they moved to North Port, FL where Jim and Sheryl both worked in real estate and where he started Master Plumbers.
Finally, in 2004, the family returned to Michigan, settling in Mackinaw City where they had purchased the Flamingo Motel.
Jim was a “jack of all trades” and could do anything he set his mind to. His family and friends will always remember the successes of the many business ventures throughout his life.
In his spare time he enjoyed family, fishing, boating, camping, gardening and snowmobiling. In recent years he found enjoyment in working on the many projects around their property and he enjoyed spending time with his buddy, his dog “Coonie”.
Jimmie is survived by Sheryl, his wife of 32 years; a daughter, Jaimie (Luke) Carter of Cheboygan; a son, William Tony (Nancy) Randolph of Dillwyn, VA; grandchildren, Kyleigh, Hannah, Sabrina, Natasha, Anthony, Jimmy, Sandy, Kelly and Kenny; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, five sisters and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Jimmie’s family will remember him at a private family gathering. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions for his granddaughter’s (Kyleigh and Hannah) education.
