Jerry R. Vatter

Jerry R. Vatter, 76 of Vanderbilt, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey.

Jerry was born on July 28, 1941 and had been a Vanderbilt resident for more than 40 years.  For the last several years he enjoyed spending winters in Arkansas.

He worked for many years in construction and as a truck driver.  Well known around his neighborhood, Jerry was a hard worker, the handyman that everyone could go to for help.  He enjoyed collecting car and tractor parts the many projects that were always on his list.  He was a dog lover and he enjoyed traveling.

Jerry is survived by a son, Jerry Vatter Jr. of Novi; grandchildren, Kaige, Cody, Travis, Amber, April and Gail; four great grandchildren; sisters, Beatrize Meyers and Janet Reede; a brother, Jack Vatter; and his beloved dog, Rinni.  He was preceded in death by daughters, Kelly Hooker and Cathy Vatter and sisters Mary Navarre and Marian Biltz.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 9, 2018 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will visit with friends beginning at 12:00 noon.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Otsego County Animal Shelter.
