Jerome Earl Garland

Born in Pontiac, Michigan on August 29, 1951, Jerry was the son of George and Dolores (Shaver) Garland.

Jerry moved to Boyne City more than 40 years ago to begin work as a landscaper in his stepfather’s business. He worked as Garden Director for Site Planning Development for many years.

In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed bowling, playing golf, playing cards, and watching sports. He especially enjoyed spending time with family. In recent years he began to enjoy flower gardening around home.

After moving up north from Pontiac, Jerry met his future wife, Sandra Baker.  They were married in Boyne City on September 5, 1987.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Sandra, are his daughter, Clancey (Christopher) Becker of East Jordan; grandchildren, Naomi and Harley Becker of East Jordan, and a third grandchild coming in March; sisters, Pat (Dave) Huettman of Clarkston, Chris (Larry) Dressell of Waterford, Beth (Gary) McFadden of Waterford, Mary Giles of Lake Orion, and Rose McCabe of Ortonville; brothers, Jim (Connie) Garland of Cranston, Rhode Island, and John (Theresa) Garland of Mayville; a sister-in-law, Brenda (Brett) Bingham of East Jordan; a brother-in-law, Edward (Linda) Baker of East Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Naomi and Edward Baker; sister-in-law, Marsha Gee; sister and brother-in-law, Sheila (Bob) Wilson; brothers-in-law, Dave Giles, and Patrick Conklin; nephews, Jeremy and Nicholas Bingham, niece, Susan Gardiner, and great-niece, Brooke Skrocki.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held from 12 noon-3:00 PM, Saturday January 6, 2024, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1583, 106 River Street, in Boyne City, Michigan.
