Jean Ann Winkel, 73 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Born in Saginaw, Jean was the daughter of Joseph and Sophia (Nowak) Slivinski.  She moved to Gaylord as a child with her family, graduating from St. Mary Catholic Schools in 1965.

On June 12, 1971, Jean was united in marriage to David L. Winkel.  They made their home and raised their two children, Celeste and Trevor, in Gaylord.  She was a parishioner at St. Mary Cathedral.

In addition to being a dedicated wife and mom, Jean also worked at the Otsego County Bus System, Mayfair Plastics, Town & Country Dry Cleaners and the Otsego Club.  In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, lawn work and especially spending time with her four grandchildren.

Jean is survived by David, her husband of 50 years; her children, Celeste (Matt) Pickrell of Portage and Trevor (Pam) Winkel of Elmira;  grandchildren, Zack and Paige Winkel and Bailey and Dylan Pickrell; sisters, Dorothy (Gerry) Galbraith of Glendale, AZ, Janet (Terry) Healey of East Jordan, Joyce (Gary) Boyd of Gaylord, Pat (Mike) Ostertag of Vicksburg, Maryann (Dick) Hartung of Glendale, AZ and  Rosalie (Rich) Running of Rio Rancho, NM; sister-in-law, Julie (Charlie) Lovelace of Gaylord; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Jan) Winkel of Santa Rosa, CA and Chris (Paig) Hansen of Gaylord; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sophia Slivinski; brothers, Ray and Ron Slivinski; her mother and father-in-law, Keith and Frances Winkel; and a sister-in-law, Karen Hansen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 2, 2021 at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord where visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.  Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan or St. Mary Cathedral cemeteries.
