Janet L. Stahl, 79, of Boyne City, MI passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan. She is now in Heaven where there are no more tears or pain. She is with her Lord & Savior and the many people in her life who have passed away before her.
Janet was born on April 25, 1937 in Pontiac MI to John V. and Myrna L. (Posey) Mahoney. She grew up in Milford, MI and was the eldest of seven children.
Janet met her husband Neil (Jack) Stahl through the mutual friendship of their parents. They were married on September 28, 1957 in Waco, TX. They returned to Michigan after Jack finished his commitment to the U.S. Air Force in 1959.
Janet was a stay-at-home mom until her children were grown. She worked as a human resources assistant at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor. Following her move to Scottsdale, AZ, she worked for several years as a unit clerk at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. She retired from Mayo and returned to Michigan, living out her years in Boyne City, MI
She was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton, MI. She was an avid reader and loved listening to the Gaither Vocal Band. Janet loved her family unconditionally and fully, even becoming “Mom” to many of her children’s friends. She never considered her children’s spouses as in-laws; instead, as soon as the vows were said, they became her children.
Surviving Janet are her children, David and Sarah Stahl of Peoria, AZ; Teri and Rick Wischer of Traverse City, MI; Pat and Paul Haver of Boyne City, MI; Mark and Becky Stahl of Mesa, AZ; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her siblings are Jean and Harland Latson of Grand Blanc, MI; Mike and Bev Mahoney of Seligman, AZ; Tim and Sue Mahoney of Brighton, MI; Jonnie and Butch Robson of Apache Junction, AZ; Kevin and Kathy Mahoney of Plant City, FL; sister-in-law Kay and Jim Sumpter of Homasassa Springs, FL; brother-in-law Craig & Joan Stahl and many nieces, nephews and very dear friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her one true love, Jack, her brother Pat Mahoney, a special aunt Fern Winstead and many others she loved.
In keeping with Janet’s wishes, her life will be celebrated at a later date. Internment will be at the Summit Cemetery in Williamston, MI.
Janet’s family would like to thank the many people at Grandvue Medical Care Facility for the loving care they gave her over the past several months. We ask that any memorial contributions be made to Grandvue Medical Care Facility.
