Jane C Brooks

Jane C. Brooks, 82 of Johannesburg, died on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord. Jane was born December 20, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan and she spent her childhood in Dearborn.

Jane married William Brooks June 17, 1950 and they raised four children, William Jr. (Clara), Marcia (Thomas), Elizabeth and Nancy (Jerome) in Birmingham, Michigan.

Jane started to study nursing right after high school and completed her degree after raising her family. She worked for ten years at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. After retiring, Jane pursued her interests of travel, quilting and enjoying her ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Travels with her husband included trips to Hawaii, Australia and Europe along with yearly ski trips to Alta, Utah. Once she retired to the lake, quilting became her passion. She lovingly quilted for her children and grandchildren. She also spent summers with her sister, Marian and sister-in-law, Doris organizing “Kids Kamp” for their grandchildren, nieces and nephews at the lake.

Reading was a lifelong interest of Jane’s. Donations in her honor may be made to Johannesburg Public Library, P.O. Box 24, Johannesburg, MI 49751.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian; father, Leon and brother, Robert. Jane will be missed by many friends and relatives. A memorial service is planned for Labor Day weekend at the lake.
