James R. Hale, 77 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Thursday, October 6, 2016.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 23, 1938, Jim was the son of George and Anne (Sisk) Hale.  He grew up in Madisonville, KY and was a graduate of Madisonville High School.

After attending college for a year, Jim enlisted in the U.S Army, serving from 1958-1962.  After his honorable discharge, he returned to college at Murray State University where he studied information technology.

After graduating from college, Jim worked for Columbia Recording in Terre Haute, IN.  Later he moved to Warren, MI where he was a systems analyst for General Motors for more than 25 years.

Upon retirement, Jim moved to Gaylord to enjoy the peace and solitude of northern Michigan.  He enjoyed hunting and loved the outdoors.  Jim was a collector of guns and knives and he was an avid target shooter.  He was also an excellent carpenter who enjoyed woodworking.  Jim was a member of the Northland Sportsmen’s Club where he enjoyed his many friends.

He is survived by his sisters, Dianne (Andrew) Boguszewski of Savannah, GA and Linda Edwards of Peachtree City, GA and their families.

A memorial gathering and celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Northland Sportsman’s Club.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Wounded Warriors Project.
