James L. Nichols

James LaVerne Nichols, 75 of Alanson, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at McLaren Northern Michigan. Born on June 28, 1943 in Saginaw, Jim was the son of Clifford and Nelsine Nichols.

Jim was a pattern maker at Nodular and Gray Iron in Saginaw for 30 years. Upon retirement, he and Gen moved Up North to Alanson. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, playing cards, traveling, trivia and listening to just about any kind of music. He was a family man, his pride and joy were his grandchildren. For several years, he and his poker buddies would play on Thursdays and Jim enjoyed winning against them. He was referred to as “Larson Luck”.

On April 18, 1987, Jim married the love of his life, Genevieve who survives. Also surviving are his children, Tracy (John) Bennett of Frankenmuth, James Nichols Jr of Bay City, Patricia (Jim) Pearson of Muskegon and Cheryl (Eric) Terpsma of Holland; grandchildren, Aubrey, Carter, Jessica (Matt), Rebekah (Mike), Jennifer (Tae), Alexis, MaKayla, Caleb, Lauren, Ryan, Marie, Kendra and Corbin; great-grandchildren, Nora and Emmett; and his brother, Nels (Lynda) Nichols of Elk Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
