James R. Spencley

James R. Spencley, 59 of Gaylord, died at home at The Brook on Monday, May 12, 2014.

Born in Adrian, MI on May 22, 1954, Jim was the son of Louis and Doris (Spencley) Dann. The family moved to Mackinaw City when he was young and Jim graduated from Mackinaw City High School in 1972.

After working as a chef and a carpenter for a number of years, Jim joined the United States Air Force in 1981. He served honorably for 20 years, retiring on August 31, 2001.

Jim lived in Trenton, GA before moving to Gaylord last year. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Dann in 2008. Surviving is his son, James C. Spencley and his former wife, Christine Westbrook both of Norman, OK; his father, Louis Dann of Gaylord; sisters, Lori (Michael) Hawkins of Detroit and Andrea (Phillip) Corkins of Gaylord; brothers, Louis Dann of Fairborn, OH and Larry (Carrie) Dann of Altus, OK; several nieces and nephews as well as his many friends.

Memorial services for Jim will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 850 North Center Avenue where the family will gather with friends beginning at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be on Friday at Bliss Township Cemetery.
