James D. "Jim" Hart

James D. “Jim” Hart, 67 of Johannesburg passed away at home on Saturday, March 28, 2015 surrounded by his family.

Born on March 9, 1949, in Owosso, MI, Jim was the son of Elgie and Marva (Martineau) Hart.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Frink), whom he married in Owosso on May 25, 1968; a daughter, Anne (Michael) Proctor of Johannesburg; two grandchildren, Dakota “Cody” Proctor and Dustin Proctor; his mother, Marva Hart of Owosso and a brother, John Hart of Saugatuck. He was preceded in death by his father, Elgie Hart.

Jim worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the automotive industry for 40 years. He holds two U.S. patents and one foreign patent. Upon retirement in 2005, he worked at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Gayord, going back to his passion for firearms, as he was a gunsmith beginning in high school. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 850 North Center Avenue in Gaylord. Graveside services will be held later at Heatherton Cemetery in Charlton Township.

Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Hunter Safety Program in Otsego County, with checks payable to MHSEIA/Otsego through Gaylord Community Funeral Home, P.O. Box 249, Gaylord, MI 49734.
