James "Jim" L. DePriest

James "Jim" L. DePriest, 79 of Charlevoix, passed away on January 20, 2015 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital. Born on February 24, 1935 in Flint, Jim was the son of Russell & Lou Ellen (Cumins) DePriest. Jim retired from General Motors in 1994 where he worked in various capacities for 40 years as a Mechanical Engineer. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, wildlife, crossword puzzles, walking his furry friend “Toby”, and spending time with his family. He was the Treasurer for Norwood Area Historical Society and active with the local community in that capacity. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jackie of 41 years; children, Larry DePriest of Columbus, OH, Tom (Kathy) Miller of Gross Pointe Woods, Jim (Jill) Miller of Overland Park, KS, Russ (Gretchen) DePriest of Ann Arbor, Mitch (Carla) Miller of Tequesta, FL, daughter-in-law, Anne Miller of Buffalo, NY; Sister Peggy Brewster of Dewitt, MI, Sister-in-law Marietta Hodges of Flint, MI, 15 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by a son, Doug; and parents. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
