Jacob Christopher Chipman, 25 of Wolverine, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at home.
Born in Dearborn on January 21, 1994, Jacob was the son of Richard and Christine (Bigelow) Chipman. He lived in Howell for a few years before moving north to Grayling and later to Wolverine.
To say Jacob loved fishing would not accurately describe his passion or his skill. He lived to fish whether on a river or a lake, summer and winter. If he wasn’t fishing, he loved to talk about fishing with family and friends. His passion fit perfectly with his job at Lyman’s on the Lake in Houghton Lake where he enjoyed helping customers and sharing his fishing knowledge.
Jacob was also an animal lover and animals loved him. He would volunteer at the Crawford County Animal Shelter where he could communicate with animals in ways others could not. He was fulfilled by the many animals he made a part of his life.
He also loved to spend his time outdoors where he enjoyed collecting treasures, rarely returning home without his new find of rocks, bottles and other things.
Jacob loved his family and spending time with them. He is survived by his mom and stepdad, Chris and Tom Davis of Wolverine; his dad, Richard Chipman of Swartz Creek; brothers, Sam Davis of Wolverine and Wyatt Chipman of Swartz Creek; a sister, Savannah Chipman of Swartz Creek; grandparents, Joan and Jerry Bigelow of Wolverine, JoAnn Chipman of Taylor and Sally and Tom Davis of Gibraltar; his uncle, Jim Bigelow of Howell; his aunt, Lori Cooper of South Rockwood and many cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Don Chipman.
Jacob’s family will visit with friends from 3:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Wolverine Free Methodist Church where visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Crawford County or the Cheboygan County Animal Shelters.
