Jack Eugene McLaughlin

Jack E. McLaughlin, 81 of Atlanta, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Tendercare of Gaylord. Born in Wellsville, Ohio on July 8, 1931, Jack was the son of Loys and Georgia (Anderson) McLaughlin. He served in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. An electrician, Jack settled in the Detroit area where he worked for several electrical contractors before going to work at Detroit Diesel Corporation. He retired in 1995 after 32 years. On February 9, 1991 Jack married Carole. With a longtime goal to retire in northern Michigan, Jack and Carole had already purchased their home in Atlanta where they had lived since his retirement. Jack enjoyed playing golf, bowling, pool and whitewater rafting. He was a former longtime member of Eagles Aerie #4077 in Atlanta. He is survived by his wife, Carole; daughters Cathline (Ronald) Lotze of Port Huron and Denise Wilkinson of El Cajon, CA; a son, Jack McLaughlin Jr. of Blytheville, AK; step sons Eric (Tracy) Omron of Atlanta and George (Vanessa) Stout of El Cajon, CA; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The youngest of 10 children, Jack was preceded in death by 1 sister and 8 brothers. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and interment with military honors will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, Michigan, 49012.
