Irene A. Duda

Irene A. Duda, 87 of Gaylord, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at her granddaughter’s home in Gaylord.

Born in Gaylord on December 10, 1932, Irene was the daughter of Alexander Blanzy and Sophia Wiewiorski.

Irene met her future husband, Leo Grzybowski in Gaylord and the two later moved to Harbor Beach where they married and started a family.  Leo preceded Irene in death and she later married Vitold Duda.  After his death Irene remained in Harbor Beach until 2014, when she returned to Gaylord.

Irene was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family.  She especially loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  Even in her later years and with her health declining, she enjoyed supporting them at their athletic events.  She enjoyed crocheting doll dresses and quilting, often making things for her family and friends.  She also enjoyed fishing with her husband, Leo, mushrooming and flowers.  In earlier years she enjoyed polka dancing and fiddler jamborees.

Surviving are her daughters, Gladys Dreffs of Gaylord and Sandra Glide of Harbor Beach; grandchildren, Sally Klevgard, James Klemmer, Matthew Klemmer, Brian Klemmer, Tracy Dreffs, Greg Dreffs, Andrea Robinson, Adam Dreffs, Richard Winkle, Anna Klawon, Margaret Glide and Jacob Glide; 25 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and another to arrive soon; a half brother, Floyd Rypkowsi of Gaylord; and many other extended family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands and a daughter, Nancy Klemmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM.  Interment will take place later at Our Lady of Lake Huron Rock Falls Cemetery in Harbor Beach.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Irene’s family.
