Irene M. Wolkenmuth

Irene M. Wolkenmuth, 88, of Harbor Springs, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Bay Bluffs in Harbor Springs. Born in Prospect Park, New Jersey on July 22, 1927, Irene was the daughter of August and Arentina Wallendal.

For most of her life, she and her husband, Edward lived in Wyckoff and Columbia New Jersey. Irene worked for Millers Pharmacy as a Surgical Manager for many years. She moved to Michigan to be closer to her daughter, Lora, and her great-grandchildren which she really enjoyed. She lived at Bay Bluffs who became her family. The care she received there was beyond exceptional. She will be greatly missed by her family and all the staff and residents at Bay Bluffs.

She is survived by her children, Edward (Julianne) Wolkenmuth of Illinois, Lora (Graydon) Blank of Gaylord and Wendy (Kevin) Engle of New Mexico; grandchildren, Cara Thenot, Kendra Vandervelde, Kasandra Meckstroth, Kelli Jenness, Christopher, Matthew and Nichole Wolkenmuth, and Douglas and Jason McFarland; great-grandchildren, Gray, Tucker, Wesley, Teague, Juliette, Xavier, Max and Sam; her brother, Joe (Willy) Wallendal of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward F. Wolkenmuth on February 26, 2011; her brother, Daniel and her sister, Dorothy.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Bay Bluffs, 750 E. Main Street, Harbor Springs, MI. Burial will take place in New Jersey in the summer.
