Holly Ann Shear, 57 of Gaylord, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Born in Pontiac, MI on August 29, 1961, Holly was the daughter of Billy and Martha (Smith) Burling. She grew up in Waterford and graduated from Mott High School in 1979.
On September 24, 1988, Holly married Edward W. Shear at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Pontiac. They lived in Waterford with their young family until moving to their family cabin in Grayling in 2001 and to Gaylord in 2008.
In the earlier years of their marriage, Holly and Ed worked together investing in rental properties. Primarily though, Holly was a dedicated mom to her own children and to her “other kids” that were very much a part of her family. She was always there to support her family in their educational and athletic endeavors. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her dad on their area road trips that often included visits to the area casinos.
Holly was preceded by her husband, Ed, on October 3, 2013. Surviving are her children, Sarah (Cody) Sanders, Nick Shear, Morgan Shear and Hannah Shear all of Gaylord; her grandson, Wyatt Sanders; her “other kids”, Spencer, Stephen, Kait, Alice and Paige; her brother, Bryan Burling; a nephew, Michael (Amy) Moorhous and niece, Mandee Rabideau; many great nieces and nephews; her mother-in-law, Joan Shear of Petoskey and very close friends, Kim and Melissa Smith-Fitzgerald of Gaylord. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Annette Burling and her father-in-law, Walter Shear.
Holly’s family will visit with friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, May 3, 2019 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Loud Township Cemetery. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Camp Live, Laugh, Love.
