Herman H. Schalkofski

Herman H. Schalkofski, 76, of Saint Helen and formerly of Petoskey passed away April 17, 2015 at Munson Healthcare, Grayling Hospital. He was born April 14, 1939 in Alpena, the son of Edgar and Freida Schalkofski.

Herman had a green thumb and he enjoyed to garden. He loved animals and spending time with family.

He is survived by his brother, Arnold Schalkofske of Hubbard Lake; sister, Margaret Olsen of Posen; his loving daughter, Elaine (Robert) Meir of Saint Helen; son, James (Shelley) Moore of East Jordan; grandchildren, Colton, Isabel, Stephene, Thomas and Paige; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Freddie, Polly and James; and special friend, his grand-dog Princess. He is also survived by two older sons from a previous marriage, Kevin and Alan Schalkofski.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Violet Norton.

A memorial service will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Boyne City, Saturday, May 16th at 2p.m.
